We are thrilled to announce that Voices of Deoli will have its World Premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF) on May 3rd, 2025 at 12:30PM at the JANM Democracy Center in Los Angeles!
This timely and deeply resonant film sheds light on a nearly forgotten chapter of history in which around 3,000 Indian Chinese were unjustly imprisoned after the 1962 Sino-India war. As immigration policies and narratives around national identity continue to evolve, both in the U.S. and globally, the film offers powerful insights into how the past still echoes today. What happened in the past can happen again, and often does.
The screening will be followed by a special Q&A with -
Lulu Men – Director / Producer / Editor
Joy Ma – Deoli Camp Survivor / Executive Producer / Co-author of The Deoliwalahs
Michael Cheng – Deoli Camp Survivor / Executive Producer / AIDCI Board Member
Yin Marsh – Deoli Camp Survivor / Author of Doing Time with Nehru

The survivors of the Deoli Internment Camp initiated a petition seeking justice for the hardships they endured. We invite you to join us in this essential movement demanding an apology and formal acknowledgment from the Indian Government. Please lend your voice to this cause by signing the petition and encouraging others within your network to do so as well - every signature amplifies the call for justice.
